Photogrammetric Computer Vision: Methods for Challenging Camera and Scene Geometries
This habilitation manuscript addresses some of the challenges in Photogrammetric Computer Vision - where speed, automation, or precision still fall short in demanding 3D reconstruction scenarios. I focus on three key areas: improving camera pose estimation, enhancing stereo matching and depth map quality, and modeling complex reflectance using neural representations. Throughout the manuscript, I combine rigorous geometry and uncertainty modeling with insights from deep learning, showing how these approaches can work together rather than in opposition. The proposed methods are tested across diverse cases - from satellite and aerial imagery to time-series data and terrestrial acquisitions. They are designed to be both robust and computationally efficient, especially in scenes with many images, poor texture, non-Lambertian surfaces, or long temporal gaps.
16h30 - 20h Post-defense celebrations at Salon d’honneur accessible from the auditorium
